During a routine moth survey using overnight light traps, the team identified a <strong>Marbled Yellow Pearl (<em>Evergestis extimalis<\/em>)<\/strong>, a species recorded only a handful of times in Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The find came as part of a community project involving six enthusiastic volunteers who have recorded more than <strong>200 moths from 45 species<\/strong> over three survey nights. While many colourful species were spotted, including Garden Tiger, Swallowtail and Light Emerald moths, the appearance of the Marbled Yellow Pearl was the highlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The volunteer team, ranging in age from 10 years old upwards, described themselves as &#8220;really chuffed&#8221; by the discovery.
